Orgullosa
In this 16-piece series, I chose to explore how I felt during the 2016 election and the events unfolding at that time. DACA holds a significant place in my life because many of the people I care about are DACA recipients. Through this series, I wanted to express my views and show support for my community. The 2016 election left me feeling nervous, particularly due to the media's portrayal of Hispanics/Latinos. I remember thinking, 'I felt like I was constantly being targeted because of the color of my skin and my ethnicity.' Many people don’t realize that DACA provides opportunities—it allows you to drive without fear and pursue your dream school. As a student attending an HBCU, I wanted to highlight an issue that is deeply relevant to my community, hoping to help others understand my perspective.
